After graduating with a BA in English Literature from the College of William and Mary, Julia moved to New York City to work in the fashion industry in public relations. She enjoyed working with niche brands and international fashion houses, however she did not feel completely fulfilled in her work and took time outside of work volunteering at a local hospital. After two years in New York she moved out west to complete her premed requirements at Montana State University in Bozeman, MT and to enjoy the Rocky Mountains when not studying. She spent two additional years in Bozeman, working in pediatrics, furthering her resolve to pursue a career in medicine. Julia applied to schools in her home state of Virginia as well as the WICHE network of western medical schools. Julia was accepted to multiple schools and chose the University of North Dakota School of Medicine for its unique patient centered curriculum, emphasis on rural medicine, and small class size. Julia excelled in medical school graduating at the top of her class and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical society. Julia is currently a Dermatology resident at UMass Medical School. She is passionate about working with non-traditional students and helping medical school applicants find the right school for their individual learning style and interests.

Accepted to my #1 choice! and I couldn’t have done it without you! Thank you so much for helping me throughout this long process (almost one year)! You truly made me the best applicant I could be from writing update letters to get off the waitlist last year, to writing a new personal statement and editing my entire application, to finding more volunteering opportunities, to getting a research job, secondary essays, and interview prep! Words can not express how thankful I am to have had you as my MedSchoolCoach. I really could not have done it without you. Thanks for being so patient with me and always ready to give me a pep talk and making me believe that this was all possible. I wanted to tell you all this over the phone, but I would have gotten too emotional and started crying because of how amazing you are and how you played such an integral role in helping me achieve my dream. So instead I am crying tears of appreciation and joy while I write this email 🙂
