We recommend all of our students do at least one 1.5 hour session weekly. Assuming tutor availability, there is no maximum number of hours per week.

We recommend starting a few months prior to your test date to ensure you receive the maximum benefit from our program. However, if your test date is within a few weeks, we will do our best to accommodate your time-restraints and fit in as many hours as we can.

Our tutors are passionate teaching-experts who have performed extremely well on USMLE exams. Each has scored in the 95th percentile or higher. We undergo a rigorous hiring process that requires not only content accuracy and clarity, but also the ability to quickly build a tutor-student connection. You can see their profiles at www.medschoolcoach.com/tutors

Our sessions are highly individualized so each session will look differently. We have three main approaches to tutoring: content-centered sessions, Q&A sessions, and QBank coaching sessions. In our content-centered sessions, we provide high-yield, interactive powerpoints that facilitate active student learning. Some slides may cover basic pathophysiology of a certain organ, while other slides may be a blank table for the student and tutor to fill in together. In Q&A sessions the tutor probes the student’s scope of knowledge about a certain topic and fills in any knowledge gaps. In QBank coaching sessions, tutors will help students navigate through the NBME-style questions, providing real-time feedback, testing-taking skills, and critical pieces of knowledge. How much of each of these three approaches is integrated into each section depends entirely on student preference.

  1. At the beginning of each session, we offer a 3-5 refresher to discuss questions from prior sessions. And at the end of each session, we do a 3-5 minute teach-back to help consolidate any of the covered material.

Our sessions typically go between 1.5 to 2 hours. We sometimes do 1 hour sessions, however we find that both tutors and students feel rushed to cover all of the material in that period of time.

Because each student is unique, it is difficult to say definitively what each student needs. Generally, if a student only needs to cover a couple of topics, we recommend our bronze package. However, if a student feels they need more assistance, we recommend our silver or gold packages.

Yes! We know that your time is valuable, so we will do our best to find a time that fits your busy schedule.

You don’t need to buy any additional resources when you sign up with MedSchoolCoach. However, we recommend First Aid and USMLE World as our gold-standard resources. Additional second-line resources include Pathoma, additional QBanks, and SketchyMedical.

A 24-hour cancellation notice is required or the student will forfeit one hour of their remaining time.
