Jimmy Murphy is a third year medical student at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He attended Yale University where he majored in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Urban Health. He then completed his Master of Public Health in Healthcare Management and Global Health as a part of the Yale School of Public Health 5 Year BA-BS/MPH Select Program, completing his summer externship in Emergency and Essential Surgical Care at the World Health Organization Headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. While at Sinai, he has focused his interest in medical education on creating and teaching a near-peer curriculum of emergency response skills to medical students in Port-au- Prince through Medical Students for Haiti. He will be applying into Emergency Medicine this fall.
Jimmy has many years of teaching experience. He has tutored in multiple subjects, including math and science from high school through medical school. He has also BLS and emergency first aid in both English and French Creole. He has a firm belief that every student can come to understand the material in their own unique and valuable way, and is excited to work with students to find the study and test taking strategies that work best for them!
