Kelley Coffman graduated magna cum laude from Vanderbilt University with a degree in public health. When an unexpected opportunity came her way, she decided to defer matriculation into Georgetown School of Medicine to spend a year abroad and in New York City. She taught young students English in France prior to moving to NYC where she performed environmental health research at two renowned medical centers, Weill Cornell Medical Center and Mount Sinai Hospital, leading to publications in the public health sector. She then graduated medical school as a Health Justice Scholar, focusing on global health. She spent time in the clinics of Ecuador and led a research project in Zambia. Now, Kelley continues her passion for helping the underserved in her Internal Medicine residency program at the country’s oldest public hospital, Bellevue Hospital Center, at the NYU School of Medicine in NYC. She plans to specialize in Pulmonary and Critical Care with a focus on lung cancer in the developing world. She joins the MedSchoolCoach team with a passion for advising students on non-traditional paths to medicine, guiding them through the tedious process of essay writing, and teaching them about effective interview strategies.
