Stephen was a Morehead-Cain Scholar at UNC-Chapel Hill where he graduated with Honors and Highest Distinction. He was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and earned the award for most outstanding student in Political Science. After undergrad, Stephen entered the UNC School of Medicine on a full merit scholarship where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha. During graduate school, he developed an interest in health systems management and completed an MBA at the Duke University Fuqua School of Business where he graduated as a Fuqua Scholar, a designation for top graduating students. He also taught public speaking to Duke MBA students and won a national research presentation award from Academy Health. Stephen is completed his Transitional Year and now is completing his Dermatology Residency at the NYPH – Columbia University Medical Center. Stephen served as a voting member on the UNC School of Medicine Admissions Committee where he interviewed numerous candidates for admission.
