Dr. Sotelo Eastman earned a BA in Journalism & Media Studies and Spanish from San Diego State University while working as an EMT-certified lifeguard at beaches across San Diego. Before starting graduate school he was awarded a Fulbright fellowship to research and teach writing and communication courses in Cali, Colombia. He completed his doctoral studies at Washington University in St. Louis where he taught rhetoric and writing coursework, edited several books and completed a dissertation on the history of Cuba’s civil rights movement. He worked for several years as a postdoctoral fellow at Dartmouth College where he published a book with Duke University Press, served on the Fulbright admissions committee and instructed courses on Latin American studies. He currently works as a medical writer, editor and translator.
