Dr. Caroline Zhu earned her undergraduate and medical degrees through the seven-year BS/MD program at the University of Texas at San Antonio and UT Health San Antonio. During medical school, she was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha and earned Distinctions in Medical Education and Research. She completed her internship at Scripps in San Diego before returning to Texas for dermatology residency training at UT Southwestern.

Dr. Zhu has coached and mentored students since her undergraduate years. Having navigated an accelerated medical program herself, she brings firsthand familiarity with the BS/MD pathway alongside a broader understanding of the stages of medical education.

Her advising also draws on service on selection committees for both medical school and residency. Through reviewing applications, conducting interviews, and participating in rank list meetings, she has gained insight into how candidates are evaluated at different stages of their training. She uses that perspective to help students prepare thoughtful applications and communicate their experiences and goals.

Dr. Zhu has also authored research on ERAS signaling and Match outcomes, extending her interest in admissions beyond individual advising to the processes that shape residency selection.
