Gil was born in Caracas, Venezuela, and moved to Coral Springs, Florida at the age of 5. He graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Applied Physiology and Kinesiology- Exercise Physiology. During his time at the University of Florida, he participated as a teaching assistant for a few pre-medical courses, participated in mentorship programs, performed basic science research in the eld of cardiology and hypertension, and ran the lab skills division of the Emergency Medical Responders course at his university. After graduating, he worked in a basic science research lab performing surgeries on animal models and studying systemic and pulmonary hypertension. He matriculated at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In medical school, he continued to teach, mentor, and advise undergraduate students, particularly students in the Latino student associations interested in medicine. He received a 266 on Step 1 and has scored exceptionally well on his shelf exams.
He has been tutoring for a wide range of subjects since undergraduate school and has experience tutoring other medical students on doing well with Step 1. He is passionate about teaching and mentoring and strongly believes that with good direction and mentoring (along with hard work and a true passion for their eld of interest) each student has the opportunity for success. He is currently a rising 4th-year medical student and will be applying to orthopedic surgery. He is interested in pediatric, trauma, or sports orthopedics and plans to continue being involved in medical education and helping other students achieve their full potential. In his free time, he enjoys watching international soccer, cooking Venezuelan dishes, and exploring good places to eat and drink around Baltimore with his friends.
