Dr. Jake Binder earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and his medical degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine. He completed his emergency medicine residency at HealthPartners Institute/Regions Hospital.
His involvement in admissions advising began during his undergraduate years. Recognizing his understanding of the medical school admissions process and his success navigating it, the University of Wisconsin–Madison created a position for students to advise their peers. This early opportunity established a foundation for his continued work supporting future physicians. He has also served on committees responsible for interviewing and selecting emergency medicine residents, gaining experience evaluating candidates at a later stage of medical training.
Dr. Binder’s career has also included service in the U.S. Air Force, where he trained in combat medicine and provided care under fire as a first responder to traumatic injuries. His military experience offered opportunities to practice medicine in demanding environments, adding another dimension to the clinical and educational perspective he brings to advising.

During his Air Force career, Dr. Binder was selected to provide care at a critical access hospital in the United Kingdom where U.S. Air Force fighter pilots train.
