Bio

Jake was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 2017 with a degree in neuroscience. At the University of Pittsburgh, Jake served as a teaching assistant for an introductory biology course, as well as an academic tutor for biology and organic chemistry. He has logged hundreds of hours tutoring for these subjects, which furthered his passion for tutoring and his dedication for providing his students the tools they need to succeed on their exams. Additionally, during his undergraduate career, Jake served as an EMT with the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania, recording over 200 hours with the company.

Jake received a partial tuition scholarship to the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, where he matriculated in 2017. He received top grades during his first two years of medical school, culminating with a 253 on the USMLE STEP 1 exam. He is actively involved in research and has co-authored two published journal articles, serving as first-author on his most recent publication. Additionally, Jake is a co-founder and vice president of the student run club “GLITCH” (Group Looking Into Technology Changing Healthcare), where he and his colleagues work with faculty and discuss how Temple can better integrate technology into both the classroom and clinical aspects of medicine. Now entering his fourth year of medical school, Jake has done extremely well on his clinical rotations, receiving honors in all completed clerkships thus far and scored a 263 on the USMLE STEP 2CK exam. Jake plans to pursue an internal medicine residency to achieve his dream of becoming an interventional cardiologist.

In addition to his passion for medicine and tutoring, Jake has many other interests as well. Jake enjoys playing basketball and golf in his free time, as well as weight training. He is a huge fan of the culinary arts and can often be found trying new restaurants in Philadelphia with his girlfriend, Samantha.
