Bio

Jesse’s medical career began while he was attending the University of Utah, where he majored in biology and worked as a research assistant in the department of neurovirology. While there, he was one of only a few students who was selected to receive a grant to continue his research into Alzheimer’s disease. After completing his undergraduate degree, Jesse was accepted into RVUCOM’s inaugural class in Southern Utah and was granted a scholarship based on his humanitarian efforts to refugee and indigent populations. It was during medical school where he learned that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. With grit, perseverance, and a growth mindset, Jesse was ranked #3 in his medical school class. Jesse matched into dermatology in March 2021 at his #1 ranked program, Sampson Regional Medical Center, in Wilmington, NC.

Jesse began tutoring in his second year of medical school. Because he was accepted into the inaugural class of his medical school, there was no upperclassmen to help his class. The struggle with learning challenging and complex topics gave Jesse a desire to tutor in as many courses as possible to help his fellow classmates learn and succeed. While tutoring, he hopes to instill confidence in his students and give them all the tools they need to be successful in medical school now and in their dream residency in the future. Jesse is currently completing his transitional year at Sampson Regional Medical Center in Clinton, NC. Following his dermatology residency, Jesse is interested in completing a Mohs surgery fellowship. He has a wife and three children, and he loves to rock climb, exercise, and watch the Great British Baking Show.
