Lawrence Lee Director Writing Advisor | MedSchoolCoach

Lawrence Lee JDWriting Advisor

Lawrence attended UC Berkeley and has extensive experience writing legal briefs and arguing them in front of judges. It’s like your professor yelling at you in front of the class for having any errors in your essay. He channels that experience to help clients write compelling personal statements, make every character count, and find what they really want to say.

What Students Say

Bio

Lawrence graduated from UC Berkeley (Go Bears!) with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He then graduated from the University of Virginia with a law degree (Go ‘Hoos!). After being admitted into the California bar, he practiced as a prosecutor for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office. Eventually, he left the legal profession. Starting his career over, he got a job at UPS. He has been at UPS for almost 10 years during which time he has worked his way up from being a holiday seasonal worker to his current position as a full-time dispatcher.

While he did not enjoy the lawyer part of being a prosecutor, serving the public was gratifying, including helping crime victims obtain some level of justice. Delivering Christmas presents and being an essential worker during the pandemic has also been fulfilling. He brings this mentality to MedSchoolCoach where he enjoys leveraging his skills to help people achieve their goals and dreams. Specifically, he uses his experience as an attorney to help clients write persuasive personal statements. He also finds creative ways to reduce character count without altering meaning. Lastly, when clients are stuck on their personal statements, he uses his interview skills to coax out what they are trying to say.

He met his wife while she was in medical school. While he is not a doctor himself, he experienced the medical profession through his wife’s years as an associate program director which included membership on the admissions committee.

Fun Fact

Lawrence is currently trying to teach himself how to golf from a book written by the great Ben Hogan. Didn't think you could learn how to golf from a book? Neither did he, but his game has improved. Just goes to show what good writing can accomplish!
