“If I can help someone as I pass along life’s way, then my living shall not be in vain.”
T. Jernigan graduated from William Paterson University with a bachelor of arts in English and a teacher certification in secondary education. He then went on to earn a master of education degree at Montclair State University. As a graduate student, he developed pre-advanced placement English curriculum. The following school year, I implemented that curriculum at the high school at which I taught. T. taught English language arts at an urban high school (his alma mater) for more than a decade before shifting his career focus to higher education, where he has served as a student development specialist to scholars in the Educational Opportunity Fund Program at a New Jersey college.
T. enjoys healthy, intellectual conversations and problem solving through different situations to help others achieve their goals and/or overcome challenging circumstances. He thrives in collaborative settings but also needs time to work independently to process and produce. A true believer in social justice and equity, T. earned two DEI certificates from the University of South Florida: one in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in the Workplace, and the other in Inclusive & Ethical Leadership.
