Melanie Farley is a freelance writer and an English Professor at Drexel University. In addition to her professional writing for various educational and arts-based organizations, she also published a small book of poems with “dancing girl press” in 2017, and she’s currently at work on her first novel.
Writing is sometimes a messy process, and Melanie encourages her students to embrace it for what it is. For example, a first draft is not meant to be perfect, but rather it is the raw material, meant to be shaped and honed through revision.
Melanie loves guiding students through the sometimes difficult endeavor we call ‘writing’, which is often also a process of self-reflection and discovery.
