Joseph is a fourth-year medical student at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine and is planning to apply to internal medicine residencies. He has completed his USMLE Step 1 and 2CK exams and is passionate about medical education.

Bio

Joseph Bell is a rising fourth-year medical student at the Washington University in St. Louis School of Medicine where he is a Distinguished Student Scholar. He graduated magna cum laude from Columbia University with a bachelor of arts degree in biological sciences and a minor in psychology. He also studied jazz guitar through the Columbia-Juilliard Exchange program.

Before medical school, Joseph taught and mentored students as a freelance jazz guitar instructor and as a teaching assistant for his college’s behavioral neuroscience course. He has continued his passion for education by leading peer-focused initiatives in medical school, including organizing workshops and panels through the Internal Medicine Interest Group and community-building events as part of the Music in Medicine Initiative.

In addition to teaching, Joseph has professional experience in clinical research and medical writing. Before medical school, he worked as a research coordinator at Columbia University’s Division of Pediatric Critical Care and as an associate for the company, Close Concerns, where he published educational articles about basic and clinical diabetes research. Joseph is excited to help learners succeed on the USMLE. He breaks down complex topics, building test-taking skills and confidence, and tailors sessions to individual learning styles. He is up-to-date with the latest resources to personalize exam preparation and help students achieve success.
