Bio

Dr. Yang graduated magna cum laude and as valedictorian from St. Peter’s Preparatory School in 2010. He then attended Rutgers University, where he cultivated his longstanding interest in biology while discovering new passions for linguistics and mathematics, even serving as a teaching assistant for calculus in addition to tutoring in STEM.

After graduating in 2014 with his bachelor’s degree, he joined the Institute of Cancer Genetics at Columbia University. During his four years there, he contributed to multiple publications on cancer genetics and new therapeutic interventions. He then earned his PhD in microbiology and immunology from Columbia. His research, which resulted in several publications, focused on the immune response and the development of immune memory to respiratory viral diseases, leading to recommendations for future vaccine development.

Fun Fact

Dr. Yang is an avid outdoor enthusiast, enjoying hiking, rock climbing, biking, and running. He has traveled all over the United States and internationally in pursuit of both nature and ice cream.
