Bio

Yusuf was born and raised in Illinois and moved to Texas during middle school. He attended the University of Houston on a on full-ride academic scholarship where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in exercise science. During college, he participated extensively in research, culminating in multiple peer-reviewed publications and presentations.After graduating, Yusuf experienced the full spectrum of scientific research by working both at an academic medical institution and a corporate pharmaceutical company. He then started his medical education at the Texas A&M College of Medicine.

During medical school, Yusuf formally tutored non-native speakers in English language skills and mentored multiple undergraduate and medical students on their medical journey. He spent his summer between MS1 and MS2 working as a research medical student at the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. He passed Step 1 on his first attempt and scored a 274 on Step 2. He also scored above the 90th percentile on all shelf exams. Lastly, he was inducted into his medical school’s chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society.

Yusuf is passionate about teaching and strongly believes that with hard work, strong mentorship, and a deep understanding on how each standardized test is created, any student can achieve their goals. He will be applying to diagnostic radiology residencies during this upcoming application cycle and is aiming for a career on the clinician-educator track. Outside of medicine, he focuses on revising the Qur’an, exercising, and spending time with family.
