Bio

Eric Yang was born in Mesa, Arizona and grew up in Austin, Texas. He graduated summa cum laude from Texas A&M University with a degree in chemical engineering. He developed an interest in teaching and, as a junior, led weekly recitation sessions for a course on mass and energy balances. After graduating, Eric worked at C2 Education for six months, where he tutored students ages 8 to 17. The experience taught him that quality teaching requires flexibility, customization, and preparation.

Eric then matriculated at Baylor College of Medicine as an MD/PhD student. He completed his PhD in bioengineering at Rice University, during which he published several papers and was awarded an NIH F30 grant. Eric scored a 261 on Step 1 and a 263 on Step 2 CK. As an MS2, he organized weekly gross anatomy tutoring sessions. As a PhD student, Eric worked as a TA for three semesters, during which he led recitation and lab sessions, developed problem sets, and tutored students. In recognition of his efforts, he won an Outstanding Teaching Assistant award.

Currently, Eric is an MS4 applying to internal medicine programs and research-track residencies in cardiology. He hopes to become an academic cardiologist.
