Amanda Ybarra graduated summa cum laude from Ball State University with a bachelor’s degree in English. She went on to earn her Indiana teaching license and a master’s degree in secondary education. Amanda taught English language arts to middle and high school students at two central Indiana school systems.
In 2011, she took the role as student assessment specialist with Indiana University School of Medicine. Her work in this role focused primarily on standardizing the IUSM statewide exam system by reviewing and revising OSCE cases and training and coaching standardized patients. In 2014, she moved into a registrar role and partnered with the IUSM Office of Student Affairs to guide students through the medical school curriculum and ensure their match into residency positions.
Amanda cares deeply about the students she works with and was awarded the Outstanding Support Staff award by the IUSM Class of 2021 students. The award was especially meaningful, as it came during the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic.
