Bio

Brent Kennis was born and raised in Orange County, California. He graduated with honors from UCLA with a degree in human biology and society. During his time at UCLA, he worked as a wilderness guide, leading outdoor trips across the Western United States. He also contributed to psychiatry and trauma/critical care research. After college, he worked as an emergency medical scribe at the UCLA Ronald Reagan medical center. During medical school, he served as a general manager for the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic and participated in harm reduction outreach in downtown San Diego, distributing clean needles and Narcan to vulnerable populations. He scored a 260 on Step 1 and a 271 on Step 2, in addition to excelling on his clinical rotations. He is currently on an extracurricular year pursuing similar service and research initiatives.

Brent truly loves medicine and plans to pursue an academic career in Critical Care. He also loves teaching and is excited to make a positive impact in medical education. In his free time, he enjoys surfing, rock climbing, camping, cooking, reading, and hanging out with his two bunnies (Cosmo and Astro).
