Dr. Yan, having lived in diverse locations such as Illinois, California, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Beijing, China, brings a truly global perspective to her role. Her academic accomplishments are nothing short of impressive, as she attended the University of Southern California on a full tuition academic scholarship, graduating with a double major in English and biology. Her fascination for writing and literature nurtures her innovative approach and remarkable communication abilities, which are invaluable in her role as a tutor.

Dr. Yan then pursued a master’s of medical science degree at the Boston University Medical School, focusing her thesis on Alzheimer’s Disease. For medical school, she attended the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, graduating at the top of her class in pre-clinical coursework and securing honors in a majority of her clinical rotations. She completed her transitional intern year at the Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle and is now in the midst of her radiology residency at Stanford University.

A devoted tutor since her undergraduate years, Dr. Yan has consistently demonstrated her passion for mentoring. Her focus on medical education has led her to mentor and tutor many medical students even before she joined the team at MedSchoolCoach. At MedSchoolCoach, she has built strong relationships with her students, many of whom have sought her guidance for years and have had remarkable improvements in their USMLE test scores of up to 40 points.
