Rockwell is a molecular biologist and behavioral neuroscientist who earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University. His career has focused on using cutting edge tools, such as CRISPR gene editing, single-cell sequencing, and machine learning, to better understand cancer and uncover new drug targets.
Before entering the biotech industry, Rockwell spent six years studying how animals learn and behave, building computer models to track their movements and uncover how the brain controls behavior. He has authored several scientific papers and has also written articles that make science accessible to the public. As a teacher and mentor, he has taught university courses on artificial intelligence, genetics, and statistics in medicine. Additionally, he has guided high school students on award-winning research projects.
