Dr. Boal graduated summa cum laude from Kansas State University with a bachelor’s degree in biology, a secondary major in gerontology, and minors in Spanish and leadership studies. He subsequently completed medical school at the University of Kansas before completing an emergency medicine residency at Palmetto Health in Columbia, South Carolina, where he received the Sydney R. Berens Award for Compassion. In addition to mentoring, tutoring, and instructing undergraduate and medical students, Dr. Boal has assisted with interviewing and selecting future resident physicians as part of a residency selection committee. He is board certified in emergency medicine and practices at several community hospitals affiliated with the local medical school. Dr. Boal enjoys interacting with medical students as they rotate through the emergency department and frequently hosts undergraduate students in shadowing opportunities.
