Dr. Brandon Winward grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated magna cum laude from Brigham Young University with a degree in exercise science. During college, he paused his coursework for two years to serve a mission in the Philippines, where he learned Tagalog. Upon returning to college, he performed research in a biomechanics lab, mentored high school wrestlers, worked as a medical assistant, and began tutoring professionally for the MCAT. In addition to tutoring and mentoring, he has engaged heavily in local and international service.
Dr. Winward then earned his M.D. from the University of Texas, Southwestern where he also started his ophthalmology residency. He scored 262 on Step 1 and 272 on Step 2 CK. He has received multiple scholarships and awards for academic achievement and service, including Alpha Omega Alpha membership. He enjoys going to the zoo and museum with his wife and two young daughters. He also likes snowboarding, hiking, and running.
