Bio

Dr. Alisa “Alice” Khomutova grew up in Los Angeles, California. She knew she wanted to be a surgeon at 14 years old when she found an illustrated copy of Grey’s Anatomy. After graduating high school, she attended UC Davis, where she majored in neurobiology, physiology and behavior, and minored in Russian language. When she was not studying, Alice tutored students with special needs at Davis High School. She graduated magna cum laude and earned her bachelor’s degree in only three years!

Before attending medical school, Alice took a gap year to paint, travel, and teach. She then moved from sunny Los Angeles to wintry Michigan to spend the next four years at Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine. Despite her mother’s dreams for her to stay more local, Alice had to push further east and relocate to Long Island, New York, to pursue residency. Currently, Alice is a PGY-4 general surgery resident at Stony Brook Hospital with plans to pursue a minimally invasive surgery fellowship. She hopes to continue her passion for teaching by eventually joining an academic hospital and mentoring fellows, residents, and medical students.
