Bio

As the former pre-med advisor and faculty mentor to students at Montana State University, Denise helped students develop and revise their written medical school application materials. Now, as a writing professor, Denise enjoys helping students explore and brainstorm their ideas and transform them into a compelling narrative. Through her experience as an advisor and professor, Denise helps students navigate the writing process and polish their materials to highlight their unique strengths and experiences.

Denise earned her Juris Doctor degree and practiced law before moving into higher education. She later earned her doctorate in curriculum and instruction with a focus on writing. Over the past 25 years, her writing has been published in scholarly, national, and regional publications.

Fun Fact

Denise has visited 36 countries and all 50 states. Before joining the Peace Corps, she managed to visit 49 states in one year. It is not a travel schedule she would necessarily choose to repeat.
