Hein graduated from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in computer science. Their major research projects investigated Alzheimer’s disease pathology, prefrontal cortex neuronal circuitry in decision-making, and the design of an online mental health intervention that employs techniques from dialectical behavior therapy. They draw from their practical and theoretical background in the sciences to help students read scientific articles and tackle difficult concepts on the MCAT with confidence.
At Northwestern, Hein worked as a lead math tutor for three years, having strong computational ability. As an MCAT tutor, they prioritize, first and foremost, being supportive as a peer, wanting each student to feel empowered throughout their MCAT journey. They hope to meet each student where they are, fostering a tutoring environment that best suits each student’s unique learning needs. Ultimately, Hein wants students to have fun while learning, feel proud and accomplished, and grow as a thinker.
