Hussain grew up in Springfield, Missouri. He is currently an MS3 in the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine combined BA/MD program. At UMKC, he is engaged in many student leadership groups. He serves as a student ambassador and leads tours for prospective medical students. He is also involved in managing interprofessional education events where medical, nursing, dental and pharmacy students participate in simulations and team building events together. He also enjoys spending free time volunteering at a free eye clinic and a free health clinic that serve underserved populations in Kansas City.
Hussain is passionate about teaching and serves as a student instructor for clinical practice courses where he helps junior students learn history, physical exam and presentation skills. He is involved in basic science research about oxidative stress in retinal ganglion cells, as well as clinical research on diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration. These experiences have given him to opportunity to serve as a research mentor to fellow medical students. Also, as a part of the UMKC Peer Tutor Network, he has extensive one-on-one tutoring experience for numerous undergraduate and medical school courses.
His diverse teaching experiences have helped him become a better tutor and given him the confidence to help any student with their USMLE or shelf exam tutoring needs. He scored >250 on his USMLE Step 1 exam and >95thpercentile on his shelf exams. He is dedicated to his students and focuses on tailoring his tutoring to the study needs of each student in order to unlock their full potential. In his free time he loves to run, play basketball, lift weights and explore restaurants in Kansas City.
