Itzam Marin is from a small town in the Yuacatan pensinsula of Mexico. He came to the United States at the age of eighteen and completed a degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology at Colorado State University – Pueblo.
During his time at CSU-P, he took on many leadership roles including, student-athlete, resident-advisor, research assistant, and peer-mentor tutor for upper division courses in biology and chemistry.
He received multiple offers for medical school and decided to attend the University of Colorado School of Medicine. Since his arrival to the United States, his academic development has been characterized by a continued upward trend, honoring multiple courses and scoring above the 90th percentile on Step 1.
His goals are to pursue an academic career in Ophthalmology where he can continue to develop his passions of teaching and mentorship while closely working with underserved communities.
Some of his strengths are his abilities to connect with people and empower students to pursue their dreams. He believes that with dedication, good will, and passion, every student has the opportunity to succeed.
