Bio

John grew up in New York state and attended the University of Rochester, graduating with dual degrees in molecular genetics and psychology. Following a national service year with AmeriCorps VISTA, he enrolled at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. Following his third year of training, he completed a predoctoral research NIH-funded fellowship in the Department of Otolaryngology – Head & Neck Surgery at Rochester. During this time, John also earned his master’s degree in medical neurobiology and anatomy.

John is skilled at tailoring unique learning and study strategies for each student based on their strengths and needs. He has a passion for teaching and frequently uses interactive, concept-driven approaches to foster a more robust understanding of pertinent exam topics than memorization alone can provide. He looks forward to partnering with students to propel their learning to new heights and enable them to achieve their professional and personal goals. 

John is currently an otolaryngology – head and neck surgery resident at the University of Rochester Medical Center. He remains active in clinical research and medical student education. John aspires to pursue a career in academic medicine. In his free time, John enjoys playing piano, hiking, and spending time with his wife, son, friends, and family.
