Kailey Ferger studied computational biology at the University of Rochester and is now a PhD candidate at UC Berkeley, where she researches ant evolution using genomics, bioinformatics, and functional experiments. She is deeply committed to making science more inclusive, teaching research seminars for undergraduates of all majors, leading STEM outreach workshops for K-12 students, and mentoring first-generation and underrepresented students through their first research experiences. She has also organized multiple speaker series and has been invited to give talks on demystifying academia. Whether designing pipelines or guiding students, she brings curiosity, care, and a drive, making research spaces more welcoming for everyone.
