Loren Cressler, PhD, grew up in rural Kansas and attended The University of Kansas as a first-generation college student. He received departmental and university honors from KU and holds a BA in Classics and Creative Writing. After his undergraduate studies, Loren worked in Brakel, Germany as an English language teaching assistant through the Fulbright Commission. He studied early modern British literature at the University of Texas at Austin, completing an MA and doctorate while teaching literature and composition. He now teaches at Seattle University and has published several articles and theatre reviews.

Dr. Cressler grew up working on a small family farm and ranch, herding cattle and operating farm machinery. He loves live music and has seen The Avett Brothers in concert approximately 20 times.
