At Ohio State, he spent three years working in a basic cancer genetics laboratory, tutored students who had extended hospitalizations at the local children’s hospital, served as an academic and research mentor, and founded an organization that sought to create shadowing opportunities for pre-medical students.

Michael then matriculated at The Ohio State University College of Medicine, where he pursued a five-year MD/MBA track. Leveraging his MBA, he hopes to work at an organizational level to improve quality and access to care. As a medical student, Michael won “Best Poster” at the American Medical Association Annual Research Symposium in Atlanta for his work on a radiosensitizing agent in esophageal cancer. Michael received a 253 on Step 1, 269 on Step 2 CK, and a first-time pass on Step 2 CS.
