Bio

Sean Smith is a senior at Rice University majoring in biology. One of his main pursuits is working on the leadership team of his university’s EMS agency. Sean puts the material tested on the MCAT into practice while taking care of patients. He also has years of research experience in developmental biology, during which he studied the embryonic development of the cornea. Outside of the sciences, Sean is minoring in politics, law, and social thought, and loves learning about how physicians can use advocacy and organizing to improve not only individual patients’ health, but the health of their communities as well.

Sean began tutoring in high school when he joined a nonprofit that aimed to help struggling student-athletes achieve their academic goals. He found a love for tutoring and mentorship during that experience, and carried that passion into college, where he has been a TA for biology classes and helps to advise students who are starting their journey to becoming a doctor.
