Bio

Serena Zheng was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Southern California with a degree in biological sciences and biotechnology. During her time at USC, she helped run a volunteer tutoring group on campus, led the student EMT organization, and conducted translational research in a circulating tumor cell lab, for which she won multiple regional and national awards. After graduating, she began her medical education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City. There, she continued to teach for both Central Park Tutors and for her medical school. She became the first third-year medical student to become a Senior Tutor, a position usually reserved for fourth year students. She received a 259 on Step 1, a 261 on Step 2 CK, and >90th percentile on multiple shelf exams. She also received honors in all her clinical rotations.

In all, she has been a tutor and mentor for almost a decade and is excited to continue to teach in the subject she loves most: medicine. She is eager to help medical students succeed and is honored to be a part of that journey. In her free time, she enjoys scuba diving, photographing wildlife, backcountry skiing, backpacking/hiking, playing tennis, hanging out with friends and family, and, most of all, spoiling her pup.
