Bio

Thomas Powell (Gage) was born and raised in West Virginia. He graduated cum laude from West Virginia University with a degree in biology. After graduating, he worked for an ambulance service in his hometown of Princeton, West Virginia as an Emergency Medical Technician before matriculating at West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. Throughout medical school, he held many leadership positions such as Class Secretary, Site Representative of Charleston Area Medical Center, and Vice President of the Emergency Medicine Club. Thomas received a 248 on Step 1, a 263 on Step 2, a 740 on Level 1, and a 791 on Level 2. He scored above the 90th percentile on nearly all his shelf examinations. He also received honors in most of his clinical rotations.

Thomas is passionate about teaching colleagues and helped several of his classmates with board examinations, didactic course examinations, and shelf examinations. He believes that every medical student has the capacity to succeed with dedication. He is currently a fourth-year medical student applying to residency. In his spare time, he enjoys running, weightlifting, skateboarding, and spending time with his cats.
