Bio

A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Dr. Gilkey attended Pennsylvania State University where he graduated summa cum laude with a bachelor’s degree in biology. He then matriculated to The Ohio State University College of Medicine.He has spent more than four years conducting dermatology research with a focus on drug eruptions and social determinants of health. Because of his exceptional academic performance, Dr. Gilkey was inducted to junior AOA, a national honor society for medical students. He scored 267 and 269 on step 1 and 2, respectively, and has a strong interest in dermatology. Currently, he is a Dermatology resident at the University of North Carolina.

Combined, Dr. Gilkey has completed over 1,000 hours of tutoring over the past eight years, specializing in several subjects, including organic chemistry, chemistry, calculus, and physics. He is passionate about teaching, and is an expert in utilizing mnemonics, chunking, and associations to understand and teach difficult medical school curricula.
