Bio

Richard Pierre, PhD, grew up in a rural area and attended small schools, which influenced him to start college in high school and then attend large colleges as a conscious way of expanding his horizons. Eventually, he graduated from the University of Michigan with a doctorate in comparative literature. He had always been interested in learning about other cultures as well as writing, literature, and languages, (concentrating in German and Russian), so he studied abroad in both Berlin and St. Petersburg. Studying abroad led to incredible experiences that broadened his worldview.

Afterward, Richard taught for several years at the college level, in subjects including writing, German, and great books. He gained experience in admissions and advising, helping students with a wide range of interests strategize paths to academic, professional, and personal success. He has since worked as a consultant assisting applicants to colleges, medical schools, law schools, fellowships, and other programs. He approaches every student with compassion for their aspirations as well as a knowledge of the challenges that come with trying to achieve big goals. This perspective helps him see each student as a unique individual so that he can meet them where they are and use his skills in planning, writing, and editing to help them along the way.

Fun Fact
