Bio

Joey grew up in the Bay Area of California. He graduated with honors from Northwestern University with a degree in biological sciences. After graduation, he worked at an Alzheimer’s research lab at the Gladstone Institute in San Francisco for two years before matriculating to the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine.

In medical school, Joey continued to teach and mentor both undergraduate and medical students. He earned a 253 on Step 1 and a 253 on Step 2 CK. He scored in the 90th percentile for the majority of his shelf exams. He also received honors in almost every clinical rotation. Joey served on the UCSF School of Medicine admissions committee as a student representative while also teaching small groups of pre-clinical medical students. He is passionate about helping students develop the tools needed to succeed in addition to demystifying complex medical topics.

Currently, Joey is a diagnostic radiology resident at UCSF. He is interested in academic radiology and continues to teach medical students. He has also served on the residency admissions committee for two years gaining valuable insight into the residency admissions process.
